Overview

The New Hanover County Board of Education consists of seven members, who are elected at large in partisan elections.  All terms are for 4-years with the terms staggered so that as nearly equal to one-half as possible will expire every two years in even-numbered years.  The Superintendent is appointed by the Board and serves as the Secretary to the Board of Education.
